Introducing Jacklyn Soo

Jacklyn’s “What Will You Dream Tonight” is on show at Pauseability.
Jacklyn Soo Meian is a diverse Artist of sorts, creating artworks in various ways: Sculptures, Drawings, Installation, Video, Sound, Photography, Performance, Poetry and most recently in Painting and Music.

She started this array of creative expression as a Fine Art student in 1997 at LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts and has participated in selected exhibitions in Singapore and in America. In her body of works, she is pushing towards expressing individuality and communal character whether it is in/about society or about her personal experience.

She is also involved in a musical ensemble specialising in Indonesian Music: Gamelan and has been very active for the past years in this ensemble. She has taught, performed and represented Singapore in various International World Music/Music/Arts events.

She also explores making her own music with other musicians and recently started to write poetry-influenced songs of her own. She uses her voice, some toy instruments and the Gamelan in her compositions.

Most of her later artworks also contain poetry that reflects an ethereal feeling towards dreams and displacement in the form of drawings.

She is planning to write a children’s story book combining paintings and writing.
